Caffè is the Italian word for coffee and probably originates from “Kaffa”, the region in Ethiopia where coffee comes from. Whether it is an espresso, a macchiato or a cappuccino, drank at home or in a bar, as breakfast or after a meal, people bring billions of cups every day. National Geographic lists coffee as one of the six drinks that changed history.

The highest consumption is in Northern Europe, followed by several American countries, and Italy as well.

 

Why is it good to drink coffee?

Many believe that it is bad to your health and you shouldn’t drink it. Fortunately this is absolute nonsense! It has a number of health benefits, however you have to consume it moderately. Without sugar and try not to go over 6 cups a day. Let’s see how good it can do to you.

 

In a recent study carried out it was found that men who drank 4 to 5 cups of coffee each day cut their risk of developing Parkinson’s disease by nearly half and Alzheimer disease by 65% compared to those who consumed little or no coffee each day.

 

A reduced risk of diabetes. Research carried out at Harvard which analyzed data on 126,000 people over an 18 year period found that by drinking between 5 and 6 cups of coffee a day men reduced the risk of getting Type 2 Diabetes by 54% and women reduced their risk by 30%.

 

It defends your liver too by protecting against cirrhosis, a condition that can lead to liver failure. Drinking more than 4 cups per day can decrease the risk by 80%.

 

Contrary to what most believe, it doesn’t increase blood pressure and doesn’t cause heart attack. It does elevate the level of blood pressure over a short period of time, but the long term effect (especially for women) is a decreased risk of heart attack.

 

Coffee increases the number of fatty acids in your bloodstream. Caffeine also boosts your metabolism by 3-11% and increases the level of adrenaline. Your overall physical performance can improve by 11-12%. Besides this, it contains antioxidants, which helps your body to remain healthy.

 

Helps against depression! Just smelling coffee could make you less stressed and feel much happier. Drinking 4-5 cups of coffee a day can reduce developing depression by 10%.

 

Studies found that if a woman drinks 3-4 cups a day, she can reduce the risk of developing a skin cancer significantly.

 

You can see that coffee has many benefits to your health and well-being. Feel free to drink a few cups a day, but do not exaggerate. Try to drink it without sugar for best effect. After this post I feel like preparing a nice cup of coffee and drink it while I relax!
